Mandar Apte

Nine months ago, when the first “stay at home” order was given in Los Angeles, I wrote this blog, not knowing the extent of suffering that the COVID-19 pandemic would unleash – so many lives lost and the world order, disrupted.

In 2020, Trust.No.One became the new normal with social distancing guidelines and mask mandates across the world to help save lives and stop the spread. It would be safe to say that everyone on the planet irrespective of their geographic location, political views, or socio-economic status was affected by the pandemic. We have all experienced fear, anxiety, despair, helplessness, and frustration. And sadly, it’s not over yet.

Has 2020 forced us to reflect on “How much do you really care?”

  • Caring for ourself

Did the pandemic and the associated lockdown make us reflect on the fragility of our mental health and wellbeing? Could we keep our biases and inhibitions aside and explore the ancient wisdom in the practices of yoga and meditation to boost our immunity and keep us mentally fit?

  • Caring for our loved ones

We know that we will die sooner or later – however, have we taken our life for granted? Has this “unseen enemy” reminded us of the value of human life? Have we ignored giving due attention and priority to our loved ones hiding behind the excuse of being busy chasing materialistic pursuits as they were our false definition of success?

  • Caring for the world

Haven’t the heroism shown by frontline health workers, first responders & law enforcement, reminded us that the highest purpose of our life could be that of unconditional service to others and the whole planet?

As we work towards rebuilding our world, let us not forget the need to rebuild our human spirit.

Om Shanti – Shanti – Shanti.

Let there be peace, peace, and peace.
